All are welcome at our FREE Friends and Family Team Beach Day! We will be playing beach handball games, teaching new players how to play, and having a great time with family and friends on Sunday, May 19, in South Mission Beach from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Just bring yourself, some athletic clothing you don't mind getting sandy, plenty of sunscreen, a hat, water, snacks, and a towel. Some people like to bring chairs/umbrellas. Sunglasses are always a good bet too 😎
Looking for a new sport? Beach handball is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States (even if you haven't heard of it yet!) We one of only a few teams in Southern California, and play in South Mission Beach in San Diego.
The best way to describe the sport is that it is a lot like water polo, just played while running on the sand. There are two soccer-style goals which each team tries to score into. Here's a more detailed description of the sport:
Beach handball is a team sport where two teams attempt to score points by throwing a ball in the goal of the opposing team. Players may advance the ball up the sand court by either taking steps with it (up to three) or by passing, bouncing, or rolling it.
While a normal goal counts as one point, creative or spectacular goals net the scoring team two points. These goals include 360-degree spin shots, alley-oops, goals scored by a team's goalie, and penalty shots.
Matches consist of two independently scored sets, lasting 10 minutes each. If teams are tied at the end of a regular set, then the teams will play a golden goal, with the first team to score winning the set. If each team has won a set after both are played, then the match goes to a shootout, in which players attempt to score one-on-one against the opposing goalie.
Trust us, it's a lot simpler than it sounds.
